Today it is about -3
They shut down my work early today when it started "dumping snow"... when I went outside to look it is what us in Calgary might call "a sprinkle of snow"
They also closed all the schools.
It's all quite surreal.
People are like fish out of water trying to deal with it, they have umbrellas and rainboots out in the snow, plastic bags on their heads, and piles of snow on their cars from not owning a snowbrush |

Two weeks and I'm leaving for Vancouver... I can't believe things are coming together and it's gonna happen. Usually when I make plans to go somewhere or make a huge move in life something gets fucked up and prevents me from doing it. I'm surprised nothing has gone horribly wrong yet... I better knock on wood.
Apartment is bought and paid for, moving truck is booked, current apartment is beginning to be packed up, I might even have a job lined up (no, it's not a camera/media/film job so please stop asking me).
(Sidebar: Christi suggested I get a t-shirt that says "please stop asking me about my job" or something of the sort, which I think would be awesome)
To say I'm excited would be an understatement.

So with this coming Saturday's Zombie Walk http://www.calgaryzombie.com/
And with me also working at Screamfest over the Halloween Holidays (as I clamor to make as much cash as I can before the move) http://www.screamfest.ca/
I was in need of a good zombie costume. I decided to tear up an old goofy plaid suit that I have and go as maybe a "zombie used car salesman" or perhaps just "zombie with bad taste."
Regardless I got down to bloodying up the costume last night. Everyone I'm sure has heard of making fake blood out of corn syrup and red food coloring, so I looked up a few recipes online and got down to making a batch of blood. It was a little tricky (and extremely messy) but I eventually got a mixture that looked quite a lot like blood. So I put on my suit, climbed in the bathtub, and proceeded to splash blood all over myself. The effect was pretty cool, I think it turned out well... all though the blood didn't dry quite the color I would have liked, but it'll do.
All this resulted in a huge mess in my tub/shower with blood stains all over the tub itself and even some on the tiles and floor. I couldn't help but laugh as I cleaned it up and thought to myself how difficult it must be to clean up such a mess if you were to actually chop someone up in your bathtub. Of course you can probably guess that the next thing that happened was there was a knock on the door.
It may very well have been my landlord who said he might stop by in the coming days for a "pre inspection" of my apartment before I leave... I just couldn't bring myself to answer the door and have to explain what was going on. =) |

Went to see Jackass Number Two the other night... does it surprise any of you that I loved it?
Now if you've ever talked to me at length about film before, then you'll know that I declared the first Jackass movie the greatest film ever made. That was until I saw Team America: World Police. I declared that movie the greatest piece of art ever made by mankind EVER! Well it still is, but I now declare Number Two a close... well number two.
Not only does this movie have the greatest ending of any movie in the world, but the opening sequence is pretty fucking fantastic too... and for God sakes man, they not only allow themselves to get bitten by snakes, but get gored by bulls! Several times! In a row! I mean, most dudes would get gored once and walk away but no, Knoxville's all "please bull, may I have some more?" That's fucking dedication.
I guess my only complaint is that I nearly dry heaved about half a dozen times... but hey, you need that sort of rush in your life once in awhile. =) |

As some of you know, but most of you probably don't, I'm planning on moving to Vancouver. Actually, I *am* moving to Vancouver... there really can't be any turning around or looking back now.
No, it's not for work. No, I don't have a job or any prospects there. Please stop asking me these things.
It's all for love. The rest is just an after thought.
I head out again on Thursday to find an apartment... and so the adventure begins. =) |
